Can anyone give me a description of some of the areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn?

I'm thinking about moving to New York and I just want to know a few facts about the areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn. For example, Manhattan East and Upper West Side, Chelsea, Mid-Town, Lower East and West Side, financial. Brooklyn: DUMBO, Williamsburg, etc. If you could explain what are the areas of security, which age group mostly live there, housing, aesthetics of the area and possibly the area that you would recommend for me (22 years in the fashion industry, like going out to clubs, but in bookstores, museums and parks, things low key.) Ok, thanks, I get that too much to ask, but I bought like 2-3 books on New York and they do not say what is real from now and I basically just I want to know which areas are safe and based on the description given area than would be.

I would like Williamsburg. It is across the river from the East Village and some call it an extension of that. It is home to many artists, photographers, students and young professionals, including creative work, or be around creative types. It has a mix of converted loft buildings, loft new luxury buildings, brownstones magnificent and sticky aluminum siding townhouses 3-flat. A few large libraries, which has a great art, fashion and design things. Many up and coming art galleries, some call it "the new Chelsea." Also young designer shops and studios. Mix club, low key bars, hot clubs, old Polish Italian restaurants and have been since before her hipsters moved. There is a park that is not the best in New York, but is complete in the summer. Really easy access to Manhattan on the L train, especially the parts that it wants to go to (a straight shot to Chelsea, the meatpacking district, East Village). This is one of the most reliable lines, metro efficient. Look for something in one of the first 3 stops L train (Bedford / metro / Graham) – perfectly safe. The fourth and fifth stops and beyond are called East Williamsburg. They are a little less populated, with some lofts warehousey very cool for less money. Is getting better out there, but one not so safe for a single girl … The new young, hip Williamsburg is mixed with an old school neighborhood Italian, Dominican and Puerto Rico Hasidic Jewish neighborhood and district. Frontiers in Greenpoint, also might want to look at, which is a Polish neighborhood. The disadvantage of Greenpoint is the train service is not as great. You could check out our website to get an idea of the wave: http://www.freewilliamsburg.com I definitely do not waste your money or go into debt to live in Manhattan. You'll get a little break from "the city" without ceasing to be so connected.
