School of Art and Design, I have a test but have passed the auditions?
Im moving back to Manhattan in June and I want to go to this school when I was younger, but I moved to Pennsylvania for all my middle school years. Im finished ninth grade this year and moving back and I want to try out for this school. The hearings were opened last November and also houses. Is there a possibility that if they have open seats i can listen? If so, how do I proposed school? If theyre arent any seats thik what I can convince her to give me a chance and if I do squeeze me in? Thanks ..
I know the existence of a mechanism for children moving to the city after the process of joining the school is higher for allowed to take the SHSAT for specialized schools or listening to Laguardia. I do not know if other schools have a similar process for children moving to the city this time, but I'll bet there is something created to allow a hearing in the summer. Call BOTH Department of Education and the school. (When you call the school ask for the Parent Coordinator.) Ask what you have to do an audition at this point. Explain that you are entering the city. You could say that they can even not talk about it until you move. But at least ask for information. BTW, Laguardia High School has an art department of the heavy fine. They allow a hearing in August you have just moved into the city. You can also consider applying there. It is considered the best arts high school in New York! Good luck!
